Instructions
Before You Begin:
-
Always clean your sitz bath basin or shallow tub thoroughly before each use. Use warm soapy water, rinse well, and dry to ensure no bacteria or residue are present.
-
This product is designed for sitz baths only. It is not intended for full-body baths.
-
Water should be warm—not hot—to avoid irritation and to keep sensitive postpartum tissue safe.
How to Prepare the Herbal Infusion:
-
Measure the herbs: place one sachet into a heat-safe jar, bowl, or teapot.
-
Add water: Pour 4 cups of freshly boiled water over the herbs.
-
Cover and steep: Cover the container and allow the herbs to steep for 15–20 minutes. This helps preserve the beneficial volatile compounds and ensures a strong, effective infusion.
-
Strain: Remove sachet and strain any herbs through a fine mesh strainer or cloth.Do not apply loose herbs directly to your skin, as plant particles can cling to tender tissue.
Sitz Bath (Primary Use)
-
Pour the warm (not hot!) strained infusion into your clean sitz bath basin or a shallow tub.
-
Sit and soak for 15–20 minutes, ensuring the perineal area is fully submerged.
-
Pat dry gently with a clean, soft towel. Avoid rubbing.
-
Use 1–2 times daily for up to 7 days postpartum or as recommended by your provider.
Peri Bottle Rinse
Allow the infusion to cool to a comfortable temperature. Fill a freshly cleaned peri bottle. Use after bathroom visits to cleanse, soothe, and reduce tenderness.
Padsicles (Cooling Postpartum Pads)
Allow the infusion to cool completely. Saturate an unscented postpartum pad with the herbal liquid. Place parchment between pads to prevent sticking, then freeze. Use as needed for cooling relief.

Contraindications & Safety Notes (Postpartum Use)
-
For external use only. This herbal blend is intended for sitz baths, peri-rinses, or padsicles. Do not ingest.
-
Do not use on deep or unassessed wounds. Safe for typical postpartum tenderness, swelling, and minor tearing, but avoid use over deep perineal tears, unhealed surgical incisions, or areas your provider has advised to keep dry, such as immediately after a C-section.
-
Check with your provider if you have stitches. Most providers approve herbal infusions, but confirm before using over sutures.
-
Avoid use if you have a known allergy to comfrey, calendula, yarrow, plantain, or other plants in the Asteraceae/Compositae family.
-
Discontinue use if you notice increased irritation, redness, itching, or discomfort.
-
Not for use on actively bleeding areas. Yarrow is a natural astringent, but any significant or ongoing bleeding needs medical assessment.
-
Do not apply herbs directly to the skin. Always strain the infusion thoroughly to prevent plant particles from sticking to tender tissue.
-
Consult your provider if you have a history of postpartum infection, fever, unexpected discharge, or if symptoms worsen instead of improving.
-
Safe during breastfeeding, as long as used externally and according to directions.
-
Comfrey use: This formula uses comfrey leaf (not root) and is for external, short-term postpartum use only, which is widely considered safe.
-
Use within 24 hours once prepared. Discard any leftover liquid infusion to prevent bacterial growth.
-
Store the dry herbs in a cool, dry place. Use within 12 months for best potency.
